ARCTIC MONKEYS will open their UK tour at the ECHO Arena Liverpool.
The multi award-winning Sheffield indie rockers will play their first gig in the city since their ‘secret’ fan club date at the 02 Academy two years ago.
Fresh from headlining this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals, they’ll be promoting new album Humbug, their third studio album, and their third chart-topper.
“What's happened has been proper hysterical,” said singer and guitarist Alex Turner. “If I say phenomenon it sounds like I'm right up myself, but we'd be daft to act like we didn't realise how incredible it’s been. When it all started we were like ‘what's going off here?’.”
The Sheffield rockers chose Liverpool as the venue for their landmark gig because of their close links with the city, and its music scene.
They put the finishing touches to their new album at the Motor Museum recording studios, just off Lark Lane, were pictured for their album sleeve in Korova and in Garston, and are regularly spotted enjoying the city’s nightlife.
