Today's announcement comes after the band recently headlined this year's Leeds and Reading Festival.

It will be their first UK tour since December 2007, and will see them playing tracks from their three chart-topping albums, including latest offering, Humbug.

Frontman singer Alex Turner and the band, Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Nick O'Malley, this afternoon confirmed their UK and Irish tour, which begins at Liverpool Echo Arena on Friday, November 13.

Sheffield is the second night, with eight other dates planned.

Supporting them will be special guests, Eagles of Death Metal.

"We're expecting tickets to sell out very quickly for this show – possibly within the first hour,'' said an Arena spokesman.

"They are one of the biggest and most exciting bands in the world. This is their home city and fans have been wanting to see them play live here for years."

Tickets, limited to four per person, per show, will be £29.50 - may be subject to booking fee - on sale from 9am on Friday, September 11.

They will be available from the Arena box office in person, by phone on 0114 256 5656 or online at www.sheffieldarena.co.uk
